Due to fluctuations from “political and economic factors,” long-term mortgage interest rates slipped in the latest week according to Freddie Mac. The average rate on a 30-year fixed rate loan fell to 2.77% with an average 0.7 point during the week ended January 21, 2021, down from 2.79% the week before. However, last year at this time, the rate was almost a percentage point higher at 3.60%. Even though rates have been bouncing around lately, Freddie Mac forecasts that they will remain relatively low throughout 2021 “until the economy rebounds.”
