U.S. mortgage interest rates have begun moving up again over the past two weeks, according to Freddie Mac, after a roughly 5-month falling trend. The average rate on a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage rose to 4.12% with an average 0.5 point, up from 4.08% and up from the previous week’s 14-month low of 4.06%. Last year at this time, the average rate was much higher at 4.42%. Even with the increases of the past few weeks, Freddie Mac expects “rates to remain low, in line with 10-year Treasury yields.”
