A mortgage fraud task force was formed this week in an effort to find those responsible for abusing the mortgage system and hold them accountable for their actions.
The task force consists of 55 prosecutors, FBI agents and analysts. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said this team is “expected to plunge deeper into the causes of ‘massive market failures’ that continue to harm homeowners.”
Holder went on to say "I have no doubt that we will improve our ability to recover losses, to prevent fraud, to bring abuses to light and to hold those who violate the law accountable."
The government’s hope for this group effort is to combine their expertise in order to investigate fraudulent actions in all fields of the financial services.
